I’m totally excited about today’s post.  I thought it would be fun to do a weekly Friday Faves, don’t you?  Good, glad we agree;-).

I am not a TV person at all.  You can count on one hand how many hours of TV I watch in a 2 week period.  However, I am an avid YouTube watcher.  You know how normal people come home at the end of a workday, unwind and grab the remote?  Well I come home, unwind and grab my computer and immediately check my YouTube subscriptions.  Remember when I told you that people are now making a living as vloggers, uhm, yeah, I contribute to their success daily.  So instead of telling you about a hodge podge of things, this week’s Friday Fave is dedicated to YouTube. Trust me, there is a treat in store that you will not want to miss.  You can thank me by leaving a comment letting me know that I made your day;-).

1.  Looking for a cooking channel, look no further than Laura Vitale.  There are many great YouTube chefs but if I was told that I could only watch one cooking channel for a year and not any others, hands down it would be Laura.  Check Laura out here, tell her I sent you.

2.  Another channel that I love is called Everyday Health.  Everyday Health has a wealth of information divided into several subcategories.  They are all great but my favorite subcategory has to be Recipe Rehab.  The premise of recipe rehab is to remake a viewer’s unhealthy recipe into something equally tasty but healthier.  The added spin is that RR puts 2 chefs against each other to conquer the task and the viewer whose recipe is being rehabbed chooses which of the 2 recipes they liked the best.  Click here to head on over to Recipe Rehab.

3.  If you are an African-American woman and you’re going natural, are natural, thinking about going natural, or just interested in sound advice & tutorials on how to not only take care of your hair, but grow it waist length (yes, it’s possible and if you don’t think so then you really need to check out this channel).  Kimmaytube, the YouTube channel of Kim Love, is the absolute best no frills, simple, sound approach to proper hair care for women with curly, kinky hair.  If you’re new to her channel, you should really follow her journey from the beginning by viewing some of the older videos first.  Check it out right here.

4.  Ok, if you are a laugh-a-holic like I am, I saved the best for last.  It’s not the entire channel that is my fave, it’s one particular video which has to be the funniest video I’ve seen to date, or at least this year.  Now puh-lease do not go getting all serious on me … I can’t get more specific than that because I’ll give the video away.  Just know, if you don’t have a sense of humor, maybe even a warped sense of humor, don’t bother to check it out.  Let me spare you the grief.  And oh, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!  Here’s your laugh for the day, and don’t forget to thank me.

***I want to give a very special thank you to Lisa at A Walk Down Memory Lane for allowing me to use her photo.  Scrapbook lovers, click the photo credit link to check out her fabulous site.   photo credit

  1. Oh yes, with the way television is headed, YouTube is my source of mindless (and surprisingly, not so mindless) entertainment. The video is point #4 was so unexpected. Whew! What was wrong with her? Who, who, who, who, who told her to do that?! SMH. She has another video posted where she’s asking her audience whether she should wear a bikini…while modeling the bikini. O_O. I was so not ready. SMH. She’s too much. LOL!

    • A ladle?? LOL. My stomach literally hurts from laughter when I watch that video. I have to check out the one you mentioned. Have you seen the warhead challenge, where her mom co-stars? I couldn’t tell if her mom was acting or serious, she was that good and equally funny.
